Christian Rupert – Brigham Young University (Volleyball)

Major:  Undecided but possibly a double major in Political Science and Economics

Final list of schools:  BYU, Stanford, Loyola (Chicago), Pepperdine

Reasons for choosing BYU:  “I chose BYU because the atmosphere is totally unique. It’s really family oriented and really welcoming. Everyone there is fantastic. The volleyball team is an incredibly strong program, and the campus itself is beautiful, so it seemed like a perfect fit. The crowds and the atmosphere on game day are totally unique in the world of volleyball.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate volleyball?  “I started out playing DAA when I was 12, and I started just as a thing to do to get me active. I made the practice squad on my first club team at Panther Volleyball. I worked hard and earned a spot, and it just kind of progressed from there.”

Coach Todd Miller says: “I consider Christian to be one of those all-around players in the sense of his attitude and the way he carries himself. He’s humble but yet hard working, always willing to bring other people along, and he just sets a great standard. He was a captain last year and will definitely be a captain again this year. There’s just not enough to say about Christian – who he is and the way he carries himself and the way he cares for other people. You can’t ask for anything else when it comes to a sport – having somebody come in and just constantly reaching out to the younger players. He’s already in the process of trying to bring in the ninth graders and making them feel a part of the program, just trying to bring them in and being encouraging to them and making them feel at home. It just exemplifies everything you could ever want.
“He leads by example. He may not be the loudest person but definitely is hard working. On the court, he’s your go-to.”
