Noel Franczyk – Widener University (Baseball)

Major:  Business

Reasons for choosing Widener:  “I chose Widener because it is a great school academically, close enough to home but far enough away for my parents to not make any pop-in visits and also because of the baseball team. I’m excited to start the year. Go Pride!”

Coach Dennis Primavera says:  “Noel is a great kid. He was one of our leaders. He has all the baseball tools he needs to have a successful college career, and I hope he does well because he deserves it. He worked hard.
“I think the coaches from Widener, who saw him play a couple of times, were really impressed with his athletic ability and his defensive ability. He plays first base, and he’s an excellent first baseman. He has great hand-eye coordination as a hitter, and he’s 6-5 and a lefthander - there are not too many of those around. He hit third for us, so offensively, he was right in the middle of the lineup. We counted on him, and we’re going to miss him.
“He was also our number two pitcher. He was a horse out there. He’s got that left-handed motion. He didn’t throw as hard as some of the other pitchers in the league, but he has really good stuff, and he might see some time on the mound at Widener. As a baseball player, he has a lot of the tools that are needed to have success.”
