Justin Hill – Columbia University (Football)

Major:  Biology

Reasons for choosing Columbia:  “It is a phenomenal academic school, and with it being located in New York, it will open up a world of employment and internship opportunities as well. The cultural diversity that New York has also really intrigues me. In terms of the football program, it was clear to me in talking with the coaches that this program is on the rise, and coach (Al) Bagnoli is ready to turn things around.”

What was the progression that led you to playing football at the collegiate level?  “Since I was a kid, playing at a Division One college football program has been a dream. Coming out of my junior year, I hadn’t warranted much attention or really contacted any coaches. After my senior year, I actually had no plans of playing college football, but one day I decided, on a whim, to send my tape to a few schools. It turned out they really loved it, and when I came up to the school, I fell in love with it.”

Coach Chris Shelly says:  “Justin was an outstanding leader for our football team - one of the best captains I have ever had!  He is smart, tough, passionate, and ultra competitive - exemplifying all the qualities of Spartan football.  In addition, he is a great role model for our younger players and the kids in our community.  Can't wait to see him play at Columbia!!!”
