Joe Traynor – Goldey-Beacom College (Soccer)

Major:  Criminal Justice/Psychology

Final list of colleges:  Goldey-Beacom, Rider, La Salle, King’s, Massachusetts

Reasons for choosing Goldey-Beacom:  “I got more money to go there, and I was offered a chance to get a starting spot next year. Being able to play as a freshman is definitely big.”

What was the progression that led you to playing soccer at the collegiate level?  “I started thinking about playing in college my sophomore year when I was playing varsity. I was still one of the younger guys, and I always trained to get better even if I wasn’t playing.”

Coach Luke Gibson says:  “Joe is a three-year varsity player. He’s one of the best players we have ever had on set pieces. He scored four or five goals last year and assisted on five or six, so when we tallied our end-of-season results, he had a hand in close to 50 percent of our goals whether assisting or scoring. He excelled on dead ball pieces. Physically, he’s just a monster. He’s 5-6 or 5-7, but he’s benching 330 pounds. He’s one of those kids that lives in the weight room, and he makes up for his size by being one of the strongest guys out there.”
