Tyler Callender – University of Delaware (Baseball)
Major:
Mechanical Engineering
Final list of colleges:  Delaware, Lafayette, Bloomsburg, Villanova, West Chester, Fairfield, Rider
Reasons for choosing Delaware:  “Delaware was a school that I always loved since I played there about two years ago in a tournament. Ever since then, I had a love for the school, and once they started talking to me and I got the scholarship offer, I committed that night.”
What was the progression that led you to playing baseball at the collegiate level?  “It’s been a dream ever since little league. I’ve wrestled and played football, but wrestling has always been my favorite. It was my goal to play Division One baseball.”
Coach Matt Schram says:  “Tyler is our catcher, so he’s the quarterback on the field. Tyler has a ton of responsibility on the field. He exhibits that leadership. He calls the pitches, he gets our pitchers feeling really good about what they’re doing out on the mound. When you’re the catcher, you’re the guy running the field. Offensively, he was the only big bat in our lineup as a junior. It was tough for him to hit a fastball. For him to have the numbers he did was a tribute to his athleticism.”

Matt Renck – University of Pittsburgh (Baseball)
Major:
Business
Final list of colleges:  Pitt, Wake Forest, Naval Academy, Maryland
Reasons for choosing Pitt:  “I really liked the coaching staff, and when I went to visit, I really liked the school, the campus and the city.”
What was the progression that led you to playing baseball at the collegiate level?  “It’s pretty much always been something I have wanted to do.  The summer of my sophomore year I started getting some looks, and that’s when it became a reality.”
Coach Matt Schram says:  “Matt has come such a long way since his freshman year. He’s probably the hardest working pitcher we’ve had in a long, long time. He never has complaints, he coachable, likable and another leader on the field. The key with Matt is he wants the baseball. He wants to be on the mound in a big game. On his days off, he’s doing conditioning, he’s running, he’s doing everything he can to get ready for his next game. Matt has a unique style. He’s almost like a submarine pitcher. He has a variety of pitches, and throwing the fastball from that arm angle – he’s pretty tough to hit. It makes him very, very effective.”

Aden Tully – East Stroudsburg University (Baseball)
Major:
Kinesiology
Final list of colleges:  East Stroudsburg, Bloomsburg, Misericordia, McDaniel
Reasons for choosing East Stroudsburg:  “I really liked the coaches and the players and just the whole atmosphere. It’s not too far away, and there’s a lot to do up there. It’s not too big, and it’s not too small. It’s the perfect size school for me. They really just had a good setup for me, and I felt really comfortable. I felt as though I fit in there. The head coach is great. They were really pulling for me to sign there, so they set me up with a good offer, and I took that.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate baseball?  “I’ve always wanted to play college baseball ever since I knew you could do that in middle school. There was actually a time when I wasn’t exactly sure if I should, probably late last summer when I was playing baseball every day. I needed a little break, and I was deciding whether I wanted to go to school to play baseball or go to school for academics, and I kind of chose the happy medium with East Stroudsburg.”
Coach Matt Schram says:  “He’s been our starting shortstop for three years, and he’s also our leadoff hitter. I have been doing this for 15 years, and mechanically, he’s probably the best shortstop I’ve ever coached simply because he reads the ball off the bat better than anybody. He’s like a vacuum out there. He rarely commits an error. He’s so aggressive to ground balls that he rarely gets bad hops. He makes our second baseman look phenomenal, he makes our third baseman look phenomenal because he covers so much ground out there. Offensively, he’s our leadoff batter, and he gets on base. He’ll take a walk, he’ll get hit by a pitch and hit for a decent average, and more importantly, he understands the value of on-base percentage. I talk to him all the time about stealing first base, and that’s what he does.”
