Dan Jacobson – University of Rhode Island (Baseball)
Major:
Marine Biology
Final list of colleges:  Rhode Island, Temple, Lafayette
Reasons for choosing Rhode Island:  “I have always been interested in my major topic – marine biology, and it just makes sense. It’s ‘The Ocean State’ and just the location and the school size. I loved the teammates I met on my overnight. It’s a good conference, good competition.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate baseball?  “My freshman year we didn’t really have any seniors that went on to play, but my sophomore year Jesse Kohler went to Oberlin College. I talked to him about the process and how much it was worth doing all the showcases. I’ve always wanted to keep playing ever since I was a kid.”
Coach Ed Wall says:  “From the get-go when Dan came on as a freshman, we knew he was something special - just his overall size and his work ethic and his talent. He came into some big games his freshman year and was able to hold his own. He’s just continued to build and to improve every year that we’ve had him. Every year it seems like he gets better at something – whether it’s a little more velocity on his fastball or better command of another pitch. Overall, just the quality kid he is – he’s one of the hardest workers. He’s here at everything that we do, and he’s a great leader that way. He definitely leads by example, and this year as a senior, he’s starting to step up and be a little bit more vocal as well. He’s one of those kids you’re just so proud of and glad that he’s able to reach his goals and be able to move on and play at the next level.”

Harrison Guber – (Baseball)
Major:
History or English
Final list of colleges:  Ursinus, Johns Hopkins, Washington & Jefferson
Reasons for choosing Ursinus:  “I really liked coach (Stan) Exeter. When I visited, I got to sit in a class, go to lunch and hang out with the team. I thought I connected well with them. I like how it’s in close proximity to home so I can go home on weekends sometimes. I’ve never liked to be that far away, so it was a good fit.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate baseball?  “I probably started thinking about it when I was 14 years old. I was living in Atlanta, Ga., and I saw how passionate people are about baseball and what it’s like to play four years after high school, and I said, ‘This is something I definitely want to do.’”
Coach Ed Wall says:  “What stood out about Harrison was just his level of competition. He just has a fire inside of him that not many kids have, and that’s really what has helped him get as much talent out of himself as he could. It’s what pushes him at every practice. He just has that will to win and to do whatever it takes to get the job done. He plays a lot of baseball all year round, and those experiences have really paid off for him. I’m excited to have him in our rotation this year. I think he’s going to be another leader in our clubhouse.”
