Christopher Devlin – Bucknell University (Swimming)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of schools: Bucknell, Penn State, Johns Hopkins

Reasons for choosing Bucknell:  “I would say the team aspect and the coaches. When I was up there on my trip, the team seemed very close, and they were all very supportive of each other. I really like the environment, and I could see myself up there, and obviously, I’m going to be next year.”

What was the progression that led you to swimming at the collegiate level?  “Before the start of my junior year high school season, I knew that as a junior I had some seniors that could help the team first and also help me to realize that swimming may be the sport for me. After my high school season, I started thinking – I had some success, the team had great success, and I saw three of my best friends going to D-1 colleges for swimming. I was like, ‘You know what, maybe I can do that.’ I swam over the summer and got to Junior Nationals, and that was basically the progression that - I can do this.”

Coach Geoff Scheuer says:  “Chris has the ultimate work ethic. He’s a very blue collar athlete, and he has worked himself to the position he’s in right now, which is always a lot of fun for us to work with and watch. He’s come a long way in the past two years.”
