Kyle Rubenstein – Washington & Jefferson College (Water Polo)

Major:  Political Science

Reasons for choosing Washington & Jefferson:  “The school brings a lot of opportunities inside and outside of the classroom. They have a great coach, Mr. Nikola Malezanov, who has had a lot of experience in water polo.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in water polo at the collegiate level?  “I started thinking about playing in college towards the end of my junior year. As soon as I felt like I would be able to play at a higher level, I first started looking at different colleges that had a good water polo foundation. I wanted to play for a school that would elevate my skills the most in the sport. I started talking to refs about good programs around that area, and some also approached me about playing at the college level.”

Coach Chris Ianni says:  “Kyle Rubenstein started as a freshman. He’s one of our first players to go from freshman through senior year, and he developed tremendously throughout every year. He led the team in steals, kick-outs drawn and goals, and he’s continuing his play at Washington & Jefferson. He was voted second team all-conference and honorable mention all-state. He has a great work ethic and a great knowledge of the game. He is one of the quickest reaction kids and picked up the game very nicely. I’m very proud to see him play next year.”
