Upper Merion Duo to Play Collegiate FB

On Thursday, April 23, two Upper Merion seniors were recognized for committing to continue their football careers at the collegiate level. Steven Sicilia has committed to play sprint football at Mansfield University while Isaiah Aliciea has a spot on the roster as a walk-on at Villanova University.

Steven Sicilia – Mansfield University (Football)
Major:
Business Administration
Reasons for selecting Mansfield:  “The location of the campus and the scholarships I received.”

Coach Harold Smith says:  “Steve’s a very hard worker, and I’m happy for him. This seems to be a good fit for him because he’s a scrappy kid. He started line for us even though he was small and underweight for a couple of years. The Sprint football opportunity came around, which is good for him. He’s a perfect fit for that. The coach looked at his film and loved him.
“He’s a very aggressive kid, he’s a tough kid. He played center for us even though he’s not big. We tried to put bigger kids in front of him, and he beat them out every year. I’m glad for him.”

Isaiah Alicea – Villanova University (Football)
Coach Harold Smith says:  “He played running back and some slot, and he did some good things for us. It’s good for him that he’s getting an opportunity to play football at the next level. Even though he’s walking on, he has the opportunity to pursue his dream of playing college football.”
