Julia Reinert – Chestnut Hill College (Lacrosse)

Major:  Communications/Journalism with a minor in Psychology

Final list of colleges:  Chestnut Hill, Misericordia

Reasons for choosing Chestnut Hill:  “Chestnut Hill was the first school I ever visited, and I fell in love with it the first time I ever saw it, so after that, I was really iffy about visiting other schools. I ended up doing an overnight at Misericorida University, and that’s the only school I ever visited.
“I liked how small Chestnut Hill was because I can’t imagine walking around campus not knowing everyone. I wanted to go to a smaller school, and Chestnut Hill is definitely strong. The team definitely helped out – the Chestnut Hill lacrosse team was really welcoming. It’s comfortable and really cozy.”

What was the progression that led you to playing lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “I knew I wanted to play a sport in college since I was young because I grew up playing sports. Seventh grade was my first year playing lacrosse, and right from then, I told myself I wanted to play in college. I just fell in love with the sport since the first day I started.
“Going into my junior year, I played travel lacrosse. That’s when I really realized – that was my definite decision that I wanted to play, and I started contacting coaches the winter of my junior year.”

Coach Angie Yanocha says:  “She’s been starting varsity since she was a freshman. She’s always had great stick work, basic skills. She’s very smooth. You can always rely on her catching and throwing. Last year she started taking the draw for us and was really, really effective, and that’s definitely one of her strengths. She goes really hard to goal. We worked a lot with her last year especially was when she came out of her shell and had that comfort level going right, going left. She’s really improved being able to go to goal with both hands. She just really knows where to cut. She’s at the right place at the right time. Last year she played attack and midfield and really has improved, and she came out with her defense. Her defense is much improved, which allowed me to play her in the midfield when we had some of our midfielders that were injured.  She’s versatile. She can play attack, and she can play midfield. She’s really good on free positions, so when the ball’s in her hands going to goal, I’m confident that we’re going to score.”

Chestnut Hill coach Chelsea Rosiek says:  "We are so excited to welcome Julia Reinert to our program as a local talent. Julia has been a standout player at Upper Merion, and we look forward to having her join our midfield unit. Julia's athleticism and skill will immediately impact our program, and we look forward to her success as a student athlete. We also welcome Julia's family, as they become CHC Griffins in the 2015-16 season."
