Final list of colleges: Mansfield, Immaculata, York, Mount Aloysius
Reasons for choosing Mansfield: “It was really between Immaculata and Mansfield, but once I got up to Mansfield, something just clicked. My mom always said, ‘If you can feel it, that’s the one to pick,’ and she said, ‘Just seeing you walk around – I could see you there.’ I love the team, I met the coach multiple times, and it felt like I belonged there.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level? “I wanted to play in college ever since I was little – when you’re little, you’re like, ‘I want to be a famous soccer player,’ but once I got to high school and I made varsity as a freshman, I knew I wanted to keep playing. I couldn’t imagine stopping after these four years. Once I joined a team outside of school and we were going to showcases every single weekend, it just felt like ‘Okay, this is right, I don’t think I can stop playing this sport.’”
Coach Lisa Benvenuto says: “Madison is an unbelievable player, an unbelievable leader of our team. She played four years and was a varsity captain this year. She is the heart and soul of our team and would continuously do anything and play any position that she needed to in order to see the team succeed. She’s the type of player that anybody would want on their field, and she would give anything for her teammates. We’re really, really excited that she’s moving on to the next level.”
