Emma Stanfield – DeSales University (Basketball)

Coach Laura Whitney says:  “It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to coach Emma.  I actually first met her in the spring of her sophomore year.  She joined our AAU team, so I got to coach her that summer before our first year together at Tennent.  Right from the beginning, we had a great connection and formed a strong player/coach relationship.  It proved to be extremely beneficial going into my first season at Tennent. Emma was already familiar with my coaching style and the systems we would be running.  She immediately emerged as a leader and one of our top players.  The thing that impressed me the most about Emma over the two-and-a-half years was how much she grew as a person and player.  She transformed from a raw, quiet, soft-spoken individual to a confident, take-charge, floor leader.  She is one of the hardest working players I have ever coached, and a true team player.
“Emma was a huge reason for our success the last two years.  As a team, we really fed off of her play.  Her athleticism, competitiveness, and self-drive make her a complete player.  It will be difficult to replace the leadership, toughness, and overall skills she brought to the program.  We will truly miss her, but wish her success as she continues her career at DeSales University.”
