Anthony Williams – Shippensburg University (Football)

Major:  Exercise Science

Final list of colleges:  Shippensburg, West Chester, St. Francis

Reasons for choosing Shippensburg:  “When I took my visit to Shippensburg, I felt at home there. They also have an excellent football program, and it’s a great school academically. I love everything about the school.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate football? “I’ve been playing football since I was five years old, and I’ve always had a knack for the game. I feel like that’s an area where I excel, so I wanted to use that to my advantage and go to a good school.”

Favorite memory playing high school football:  “When we beat Neshaminy High School (last fall). Coach Gallagher had not beat them since he has been with Souderton, and it felt really good to bring home that win for him.”

Coach Ed Gallagher says:  “Anthony really came into his own his senior year. I thought he was a special talent from his freshman through junior years. He played a lot of special teams as a sophomore and was able to start on defense as a junior and a little bit on offense when we had a couple of injuries, but everyone could see whenever he touched the ball, something big was always possible. What he did this year – taking over being the main back, being the guy that no one wanted to kick to, he was just electric to watch every time he touched the football. Defensively, the sky is the limit. He covers well, and he plays the ball in the air well. He’s a really talented athlete that has improved his work ethic over the past couple of years, and I think Shippensburg is getting a really good player.”
