Reasons for choosing ODU: “First, the temperature – I’ll be able to play outside all year round. Also, I got a really good vibe from the coach and the girls, and they were all very welcoming, and they were all very excited.”
What was the progression that led you to playing lacrosse at the collegiate level? “When I was 
playing for Ultimate, my club team, I was playing year round, so I got the feeling if I could play year round for my club team I could play year round for college.”
Former coach David Schlesinger says: “Lauren Irvine is an immensely talented midfielder. Lauren is a four-year varsity starter at Wissahickon and has committed to playing lacrosse next year at Old Dominion University. Lauren is tall, fast, strong, aggressive, and smart. She has learned to play the game the right way and has become a true leader on the field. She has a wicked shot, great stick skills, and can be a defensive stopper, as well. Lauren was named to the first team All SOL team as a junior and was second team All SOL as a sophomore. She surpassed the 100-goal plateau as a junior and is poised to have a great senior season under the guidance of new head coach, Patty Kovacs.
“Two years ago, upon the completion of Laura Frankenfield’s record setting All American career at Wissahickon, Laura and I decided that instead of retiring her #13, we would begin a new tradition of memorializing all that Laura represented by handing the #13 down to an underclassman and continue that whenever that player was about to graduate. The player that Laura chose to hand down her number to, with my complete support, was Lauren Irvine. That is a testament to Lauren’s character as much as it is to her talent. Lauren has worn the #13 with distinction, honor, and class.”
