Wissahickon's Lehman to Compete in Lacrosse at Penn State

On Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, Wissahickon senior Kyle Lehman was recognized for committing to continue his lacrosse career at Penn State University.

Kyle Lehman – Penn State University (Lacrosse)

Major: Finance

Final list of colleges:  Penn State, UNC, Duke, Georgetown, Maryland, Michigan

Reasons for selecting Penn State:  “It has been a dream of mine since I was young. My dad also played there in college, and I have family that currently attend the school. Being able to play and represent the state I grew up in is an opportunity that I could not turn down.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “When I was young, I wanted to follow my father’s footsteps and become a college player at Penn State just like him. My first lacrosse game was when I was in kindergarten playing with a grade older. It wasn’t until fifth grade when I realized I wanted to become the best I could be in the sport of lacrosse. I had one goal – play lacrosse at Penn State just like my dad.
“I began training and taking the sport seriously. I started going to recruiting camps and high level showcases with hundreds of Division 1 coaches standing on the sidelines watching. On Sept. 1, I received calls from schools asking me to come visit their campus. When Penn State called, it felt like I won the lottery. A dream that seemed impossible had finally come true.”

Coach Matt Conway says:  “What sets Kyle apart aside from his incredible skill set is his desire to compete. Whether practice or games, he’s always going 100 percent. He is also extremely intrinsically motivated, which leads to him putting in a ton of work to get better in the offseason.”
