Matt Oruch – Gannon University (Baseball)

Major: Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Gannon, St. Joseph’s, Penn State-Harrisburg

Reasons for choosing Gannon:  “The opportunity to play in the PSAC, and I liked the coaches. I liked the team when I went up to visit, and I just liked the atmosphere. I also liked that it’s within walking distance of Lake Erie.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate baseball?  “I started thinking about it in ninth grade when coach Gunby called me up to varsity when I was a freshman, and that really gave me a lot of confidence. A lot of the guys were encouraging me to play in college, telling me I was good enough, and that really gave me confidence to try and play in college.”

Coach Shannon Gunby says:  “Matt has been part of our program for four years. He worked hard to put himself in a position to play at the next level. He’s a competitor and possesses a lot of skills that can help him succeed at Gannon, including speed and power. Matt has the potential to develop into a solid college player.”
