Colin Williams – Shippensburg (Football)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Shippensburg, Assumption College, Moravian

Reasons for choosing Shippensburg:  “I really just felt at home when I was on the campus. I felt like I gained strong relationships with the coaches and the players. I loved the campus, I loved the facilities, I loved everything they had to offer.”

What was the progression that led you to playing football at the collegiate level?  “One day at practice during my junior season, coach Cappa asked, ‘Do you think about playing college football?’ I said I wasn’t too sure. One day it hit me that I really wanted to play, and that’s when I started to send out my film, my transcripts. Ever since then it picked up, and I just wanted to play more and more.”

Coach Jeff Cappa says:  “Colin is what you could call the face of a program. He’s dedicated, and he has an awesome commitment to his teammates, to his coaches and to his school. He’s a great leader in the weight room, a great leader on the practice field, and he’s got extremely supportive parents in the sense of being supportive of what the coaches are trying to accomplish, supportive of what their son is trying to do. You take all of that into account, which makes him a great person, not just a great football player.
“He’s an awesome kid. In my years of being head coach, he’s probably the most recruited player I’ve had. We’ve had some kids go Division One and get a scholarship, but this kid – he had to pick a school because there were so many that wanted him. He’s been a joy to coach, and his parents have been great to work with. That’s why he’s the successful student athlete he is, and he’ll be a successful person. He has all the skills and attributes it takes to be a successful person.”
