A “power conference” consisting of ten schools was created for football. Pennridge and Truman were moved into the Liberty Division for football only. Tennent and Pennridge were moved out of the large-school football schedules to give them the opportunity to build their programs and be more competitive.

In 1991, the first State Football Championship was won by a Suburban One League team – Central Bucks West.

1993

Tennent moved from the Patriot Division to the Colonial Division and North Penn moved to the Patriot Division from the Colonial Division.

Springfield was given an exemption from playing a Suburban One League schedule to make it possible for them to continue football. Their enrollment was the smallest in their division. By granting the exemption, they had the opportunity to become more competitive by scheduling schools of similar enrollment.
