Key returning players: Abington returns this year with 11 seniors, including standouts Skylar Beal (Forward), Olivia Dougherty and Maura Calladonato (Center and Left Midfielder), and Grace Upham (Defender). Sophomore, Maeve Link, was also a top contributor last year and returns to the forward line for Abington this year.
New players to watch: Abington is looking forward to seeing contributions this year from sophomore midfielder Janice Coonahan, sophomore forwards Brooke Dougherty and Carly Hughes, and senior defenders Maggie Cardamone and Isabel Updyke.
Season outlook: “Abington’s goal this year is to continue their pattern of advancing to district playoffs, like they have done the past several years. They are hoping to be viewed more as an offensive threat in the circle as well with many capable players on the team able to put the ball in the back of the net. The team is also looking to capitalize on their vast bench, which boasts much talent, to help record wins against teams they have struggled against in the past.”
