ABINGTON GOLF PREVIEW

Coach:  Jason Cottone- 2^nd Year as Varsity Coach

Assistant coach: Ryan Cragle

Last year’s record:  10-4 SOL, 10-5 overall, 5 district qualifiers

Notable losses:  Nick Coyle- Senior, Brian Hanley- Senior, CJ Brennan- Senior, Jake Shur- Senior

Key returners:  Matt Shur- Sophomore, Jed Barson- Junior, Conor Breslin- Junior, Rebecca Chiger- Junior Will all have to step up to fill in the roles of the four seniors that have graduated. 

Others to watch:
Andy Ring- Junior who is a second year competitive golfer, but has made his way from the JV team to the Varsity team this season.

Strengths/Question Marks: 
“The Ghosts retain golfing experience on the team; however, the caliber of play is not as high after losing four key players to graduation.  There is a big question mark on who is going to rise to the challenge and fill in the ranks.”

Outlook:
“Coach Cottone sees a lot of potential with this team; however, is unsure of how it will play out.  This is a team whereas each player brings significant golf experience, but there is uncertainty as to whether their games will be good enough to be contenders at the top of the SOL.    
“Sophomore Matt Shur is a player looking to make his mark in the SOL.  He has spent countless hours on his game this summer and has a goal to make it to districts this year.
“Our team goal this year is to finish with a similar record to last year and send more golfers than last year to post-season play.”
