Central Bucks East Field Hockey Preview

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST FIELD HOCKEY PREVIEW

Coach:  Michelle Finegan (2nd year)

Assistant coaches:Mindy Donnelly (2nd year), Meghan Spratt (2nd year), Brittany Varacallo (1st year)

Last year’s record:  15-5 Overall, 10-4 League.  The 2015 team made it to districts for the first time since 2011, winning the first district game against Wissahickon.

Notable losses:  Patriots lost to graduation, senior captains Katelyn Stout, Sarah Braza and Nicole Tracy, as well as seniors Rachel Fife and Theresa Haug, Kelsey Mulholland and Sara Valko.

Key returners:  Key returners for the Patriots are leading scorers: junior captain Riley Donnelly, senior Abbey Butler and sophomore Cailey Lever. Senior captain Reilly Finegan and junior Mackenzie Boyle will return in the midfield along with senior Sarah Sheehy and junior Isobel Mannino balancing out the defense. Junior Sydney Richter will return in the cage for the Patriots. Seniors Emily Brennan, Lindsay Adriaansen and Alli Herbine will add depth and experience to the squad.

Others to watch:  CB East has a number of great underclassmen joining the team, notably freshmen Emma Donnelly and Elizabeth Philipp, as well as sophomore Kyleigh Talomie. In addition, there are a few talented multi-sport junior athletes, Whitney Dietz, Julia Gleason and Tara Harper.

Strengths: “The strength of our team is our cohesive, spirited group and ability to work well together. We return our top three scoring leaders and our team has been working hard in the off season.”

Outlook:  “Last year we were able to make it to District playoffs, and this year we want to finish in the top of the Suburban One League, make District playoffs, and get into States. All-State junior Riley Donnelly was named to the National Futures Championship and the USA U17 Indoor National Team. Reilly Finegan was a member of the Keystone Gold Medal Team, Mackenzie Boyle was selected to compete in the All-Star Showcase for College Connection, and Emma Donnelly was named to the National Futures Championship.”
