Harry S Truman Wrestling Preview

HARRY S TRUMAN WRESTLING PREVIEW

COACH:  Jesse Dunn (5th season)

Assistant Coaches: Rick Voran, Sean Edmondson, Kyle Bagenstose

Last year’s record:  1-5 in SOL National, 5-10 overall

Notable losses: Alex Litz (182lbs) – 2018 PIAA State Qualifier graduated.  He is currently serving in the US Marines.

Key returners: Gunnar Fuss (Senior – 138) – 3x PIAA State Qualifier, 2018 8th place medalist, Columbia University commit

Joey Goldey (Senior – 160) - 2018 Regional Qualifier

Others to watch:  Esteban Moran (Senior – 145), Frank Regalis (Junior – 195)

Strengths:  Really strong group of upperclassmen and a larger roster than the past few seasons.

Question marks will be how quickly our underclassmen are able to develop.

Outlook:  “2018-2019 looks to be an exciting year for Truman.  The team will be led by Gunnar Fuss and Joey Goldey, along with Esteban Moran.  Gunnar Fuss will be looking to climb the podium in March.  Joey Goldey had a nice postseason run last year, coming up short at Regionals, and he will be looking to earn a spot in Hershey.  Dan Baskin (Junior) qualified for the Regional tournament in 2017 and will be looking to have another deep postseason run.  Truman has struggled to fill some of the upper weights in recent years.  We have great numbers this year, including a few upper weights.  We have a pretty big freshman class that has been wrestling together for a few years now – mat time will be key to their development. Truman will also be hosting the SOL National Championships on January 26.”
