Neshaminy Boys' Lacrosse Preview

NESHAMINY BOYS’ LACROSSE PREVIEW

Coach:  John Donato (First year Head Coach)

Assistant coaches:  Patrick Wheeler and Nick Reisig

Last year’s record:  7-12 overall, 1-8 SOL National

Notable losses:  Will miss last year’s team MVP John Hughes and scoring leader Mason Zeberlein

Key returners:  A core group of experienced seniors will lead the team; Nick Donato and Luke Sermarini at attack, Connor McVey, Ryan Maher and Jeremy Sheley on the midfield, and long pole defenders Preston Backhaus and Doug Lang

Others to watch:  Juniors Dawson Obringer and Charlie Potash bring additional skill to the midfield as well as to the faceoff X.  Junior Garrison Toto is poised to have a strong year in goal, and junior Noah Weiman is adept on both sides of midfield stripe.  Sophomore Bobby Blum is a second-year starter rounding out the long pole defense.

Strengths/Question Marks:  Senior leadership and experience / Team Depth

Outlook:  “The team will strive to have a winning record while always having an eye on beating rival Pennsbury, and competing at a consistent high level in the SOL.  Their year-end goal is to make District playoffs.  Nick Donato (University of Scranton commit) is a four-year starter at attack and a key to the offense. Both Luke Sermarini and Ryan Maher add experience and athleticism and expect to have strong senior seasons. Connor McVey is a dynamic force at the midfield and is always a threat to score. Preston Backhaus is a four-year starter on defense and has successfully shut down many opponent’s star attackmen.”
