Pennridge Softball Preview

PENNRIDGE SOFTBALL PREVIEW

Coach:  Paul Koehler (3rd year)

Assistant coaches:  LeeAnn Kramer, Tyler Penhallow, Eric Romig (JV Coach)

Last year’s record:  8-6 SOL, 12-10 overall including a win (beat Boyertown) and a loss (Pennsbury 1-0) in District playoffs

Notable losses:  Emily Hofmann - IUP

Key returners:  Paige DeCew (senior pitcher), Brooke Labs (senior, 3rd base, rehabbing from ACL surgery), Haley Taylor (junior, 2nd base), Emily Mayhew (junior, left field)

Others to watch:  Bridget Casey (junior, center field), Alison Horne (junior, right field), Morgan Labs, (sophomore, first base), Lisa Bahmueller (sophomore, short stop)

Strengths/Question Marks:  “Pitching should be our strength. Our outfield should prove to be very strong.  We hope to play sure defense. Brooke Labs, our senior third baseman, is returning from ACL surgery and we will probably not see her until mid-April, if at all.  Brooke is a returning captain and a team leader, her not being present on the field will give us a couple of challenges. So we will have to move a couple of people around in the infield to make things work.  Liv Campbell will start at catcher for us as a freshman and she will be tested.”

Outlook:  “Competing in this division (being arguably the toughest in the state) is always a tough challenge.  We hope to compete.  We hope to reach District playoffs again.”

GAMES TO WATCH:  All of our home games – music, lights, and great softball!!
