PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW

Coach: Dave Stewart, 4th season, 19th over-all

  • Semifinal Round of District play, lost to Garnet Valley
  • Lost play back to Lower Merion for the 4th seed in PIAA States
  • Lost in round 1 to Parkland

Notable Lossess:

We lost 10 seniors to graduation

  • Specifically, our team MVP, Neve Straff (playing at Albright College)
  • Ryenn Mamrosch (playing at Albright College) and Rylie Watton, our setters
  • Arianna Storti, outside
  • Kayla Diguglielmo, libero

Key Returners:

  • Senior - Natalie Small - Middle Blocker
  • Junior - Amanda Busk - Outside/Middle Blocker
  • Senior - Julia Esslinger - Setter
  • Sophomore - Marissa Storti - Outside/Middle Blocker

Others to watch:

  • Sophomore - Giuliana Storti - Libero, DS
  • Sophomore - Chloe Esslinger - DS

Strengths:

  • Team is reloaded with talent
  • There is a tremendous amount of experience

Question mark:

  • How long will it take to gel both defensively and offensively

Outlook: PW is trying to have a short memory and not dwelling in the past. The goal is to continually improve over the course of the season and to be playing our best ball at the end of the season. PW has a very challenging schedule, including five of the top seven ranked District 1 teams from last season so there are bound to be growing pains. Our plan is to be one of those teams you don’t want to face in District playoffs.”
