Quakertown Boys' Track & Field Preview

QUAKERTOWN BOYS’ TRACK & FIELD PREVIEW

Coach:  Sean Stetler (2nd year)

Assistant coaches:  John Farrell, Justin Kucharski, Jim Parsons, Nick Hood, Jen Bubser

Last year’s record: 3-3-1 (tied CB East) We went from 3 consecutive years of last place in conference to 4th place with 114 points.

Notable losses:
Ishmael Wright (University of Rhode Island), Alex Balla (Shippensburg), Andrew Varichione (Valparaiso), Stephen Shelly (Elizabethtown)

Key returners:  Brett Wolfinger (JR/Mid-distance) Rob Burns (JR/Spints/Jumps) Jake Lambinus (SO/Jumps/Hurdles), Phil Ciccarone (SR/Sprints), Josh Schwarz (SR/Throws)

Others to watch:  Freshman Hudson Delisle- Delisle was the top runner on the cross-country team this Fall, and transitioned nicely to mid-distance during the indoor season. He qualified for the Meet of Champions in the 800 and ended up with the 2nd fastest time in the state for a Freshman (2:02.9). He will help us a ton on relays this year and should have an incredibly bright career ahead of him!

Outlook:   “We sent four incredibly talented seniors off to college last year, which will hurt us in the big meets, but we have a ton of younger athletes who are primed to step up and fill in. We should be a deeper and more well-rounded team this year, especially in dual meets, partially due to the fact that we added some great event-specific coaches to our staff. We have an excellent captain and leader in Brett Wolfinger, who will be a force in the mid-distance events and relays, and a crew of very talented guys around him who should be able to make the jump from occasional point scorers to event winners. As long as we stay healthy and our guys develop throughout the season, we should be very competitive in all dual meets.”
