Souderton Girls' Cross Country Preview

SOUDERTON GIRLS’ CROSS COUNTRY PREVIEW

Head coach:  Jim O’Neill  19 years

Last year’s record:  3-4 league, 3-4 overall

Key losses:
Alyssa Qahash (West Chester University), Tessa Edwards (Moved to Texas), Melanie Witter (Returned to Soccer)

Key Returnees:
Hope Ferrebee (SR) Noelle Noble (SR) Natalie Bulgier (SR) Elizabeth Morris (SR) Nikki O’Donnell (SR) Jackie O’Donnell (SR) Eli Bell (JR)

Others to watch:
Cheyenne Scott (JR) Katie Halteman (JR) Kalena Le (SO)

Strengths:
The team has a large group of seniors with running experience to lead them spearheaded by Elizabeth Morris who put in a solid summer of training. The team also added a promising group of new talented young athletes.

Question Marks:
“With the surprise loss of two top runners one due to a family move and the other a switch back to soccer, it will be necessary for other runners to step up and fill their vacated spots if the team wants to continue its recent ascent. There will be no breaks once the team begins its regular season in the super competitive Continental Conference.”

Outlook on season:
There is some experience on this team and hopefully the large team size will create some healthy competition which pushes everyone forward. There should be a great deal of improvement throughout the season.”

Coach’s comments:
I am really excited to see as we improve how competitive we can be!”
