UPPER MERION GIRLS’ CROSS COUNTRY PREVIEW

Coach:  Matt Collins 8th year

Last year’s record:
Bulldog Invitational--Third Place
Salesianum Invitational-- First Place, Large Schools Division
Suburban One American Conference: 6-1 Record (3rd place)
District One Championships:  27th out of 55 teams in AAA

Notable losses:  Esther Grambs, Ariel Chui, Kristen Bowes

Key returners: All varsity runners are returning—Coleen Butler (12), Ashley Anderson (12), Gab Hnatin (11),  Zeinab Bakillah (12), Irene Argiris (11), and Hope Lu (10).  Butler was First Team All League last year, Hnatin and Anderson were named to the Third Team All League.

Others to watch:  Mads Rushlau (12), Hannah Montalvo (10), Jen Merritt (11), Grace Eppinger (10), and Danielle Hand (12)

Outlook:  “With a veteran team returning, the Vikings are hoping to improve on last year’s season.  The team will be led by six returning varsity runners: Coleen Butler, Ashley Anderson, Gab Hnatin, Zeinab Bakillah, Irene Argiris, and Hope Lu.”
