Upper Moreland Girls' Basketball Preview

UPPER MORELAND GIRLS’ BASKEBALL PREVEW

Coach: Matt Carroll, 2nd year at Upper Moreland

Assistant coaches: Scott Merrill, Mark Wasson, Pete Williams

Last year’s record: 0-22

Notable losses: Kim Benge, Madison Pisut, Noelle Woodman

Key returners (include grade/position): Bean Hughes (F) 10th, Phoebe Longstreth (G) 11th, Caitlin Corr (G) 12th, Cassidy Murphy (F) 12th

Others to watch (include grade/position): “We have 10+ girls who could receive valuable varsity minutes this year and the coaching staff is excited to see what players are ready to step up to the challenge. From 9th-12th grade, we have a lot of girls who will be given an opportunity to make an impact on this year’s team.”

Strengths/Question Marks:  “In our second year of growing this program we have a group of girls who understand what is being asked of them and show up every day working hard, asking questions, and improving in every facet of the game. What we lack in overall team size we hope to make up for with an aggressive, in your face style of basketball”

Outlook: “From an outsider’s perspective it may not seem like we had a successful season last year but we are very confident that we are on the right track. We know what it takes to be a successful program and we believe that all of the little things we have done since last February will get us to where we want to go. We not only look to improve upon last year’s record but as a program in general.”
