Central Bucks West Comments

CB South rallied from a 4-0 deficit to beat CB West on a walk off wild pitch. It was a cruel twist of fate for West which defeated South on a walk off HBP earlier in the season.

Aaron Worthington and Andrew Dietz hooked up in a pitcher’s duel with West holding a narrow 1-0 lead after five innings thanks to a two-out RBI single by Trevor D’Arcy scoring Thomas Philipps in the top of the 4th. The offense finally woke up in the 6th with West scoring three times after a leadoff double by Daniel Clayton was followed by RBI singles by Matt Cooper, Dom DiCicco and Josh Crecca. Worthington took a no hitter into the 6th and retired the first batter of the inning before Ben Berger delivered South’s first hit of the night. After Chris Farrell walked, West made a pitching change. Joe Llyond broke up the shutout with a line drive single to right. Dietz and Tyler Watson followed with RBI hits to make the score 4-3. After a strike out, Eric Gross tied the game with a line drive to center.

In the top of the 7th, Gebre led off with soft single to center. South brought in ace Dan Klepchick to pitch and after Clayton executed a sacrifice bunt to move Gebre to second, Philips reached on an infield hit to put runners on 1st and 3rd with only one out. Matt Cooper hit a short fly ball and South right-fielder Devin Farrell threw a strike to Gross to cut down Gebre at the plate, keeping the game tied. Farrell followed up his great defensive play by leading off the bottom of the 7th with a single to left. West then failed to record an out of successive bunts, leaving the bases loaded with no outs. Farrell scored the winning run on a wild pitch.
