HH 5 vs UM 4 (Sat, 5/4)

The Upper Moreland Bears (13-2 Overall, 11-0 SOL American) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Hatters (8-8 Overall, 5-6 SOL Continental) rallied back for a dramatic 5-4 win in senior Chris Naiberk’s Pink Game. Hatters starter John Hlywiak settled in after the rocky start and did not allow another run in his 4.2 innings pitched. Hlywiak also struck out 7 during that time.
The Hatters bounced back and scored two runs of their own in the bottom of the 1st to get right back in the game. Grant Opalisky’s single scored Brad Humski and Ryan Kelly’s groundout scored Zach Prendergast to make it 4-2. The Hatters made it 4-3 in the 5th inning when Ryan Kelly tripled and scored on Zach Brenner’s sac fly.
Trailing 4-3 going into the bottom of the last inning, Prendergast and Opalisky opened the inning by reaching base on consecutive throwing errors to tie the game at 4-4. Naiberk then bunted Opalisky over to third. Opalisky scored the winning run when he raced home on a wild pitch.
Prendergast and Opalisky were each 3-4 and Mike Maimone was 2-3.
Dave Brown came in with 2 outs and the bases loaded and got a huge strikeout to end the top of the 5th inning. He pitched 1.1 hitless and scoreless innings. Tyler Markovic earned the win with a scoreless inning pitched.
