Eddie Schultz’s 2-run homerun in the top of the 11th inning gave the visiting Hatboro-Horsham Hatters a 2-0 SOL American Conference victory over the Upper Moreland Bears on Tuesday afternoon.

Both teams had strong pitching performances. HH’s Colin Kennedy went 8 innings, striking out 9 and not allowing a run, while walking 2 and allowing just 2 hits. Alex Crim earned the win for the Hatters in relief. Crim went 3 innings, striking out 5 and allowing 2 hits and 2 walks. Upper Moreland’s Brandon Kohn didn’t allow any runs or hits in his 5-inning start. He struck out 7, while walking 5. Tommy Jacob was the hard luck losing pitcher in the game. Jacob pitched 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 walks, 2 runs, while striking out 4.

The Hatters had the bases loaded in the first and third innings and runners on second and third in the second inning, but coulnd’t cash in.

Freshmen shortstop Jake Bianchini led off the top of the 11th with a walk. He advanced to second on a wild pitch. Senior DH Ryan Long advanced him to third with a ground out to first base. That brought up Schultz. He got a 1-0 pitch that he liked and he deposited it over the fence in right field to give the Hatters a 2-0 lead.

The Hatters (9-4 Overall, 7-2 SOL American) will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Quakertown. Quakertown currently sits on top of the SOL American with an 8-1 record. Quakertown beat HH earlier in the season 2-0.
