Before the game when we listed the keys to the game, the top 3 were Poise, Poise and Poise. Unfortunately, we failed on all three counts. I'd like to be able to say that had Bri McFerran not been out with the flu or had Dani not picked up 2 fouls in the first 2 minutes we'd have been more competitive, but the fact is it was one of those games.
I think the game was 7 - 7 when Dani had to take a seat due to early fouls, a few minutes later it was 18 -7 and we were never able to get back into it. This was the first game all year that our freshmen showed their inexperience. Abington did a nice job of getting us out of our rhythm and we did not respond the way we would have liked to.
At half time we told the girls that the fact that they were appropriately embarrassed and angry at how they played was good and the challenge was to react the right way and to take away something positive in the second half. Even though the game was well out of reach at that point, we were encouraged that they played together the second half and continued to compete and showed some pride.
Hopefully this was just a bump in the road and it's something that we can build off of moving forward.
