William Tennent Comments

After Tennent's poor performance on Friday against Conference opponent Pennridge, tonight's game was a character test. "I was really disappointed with our energy and effort last game, so prior to the game I challenged our girls to see how they were going to respond, said Coach Whitney." "Overall the effort and energy was much better, but as a coach you are always looking at things to improve." The Panthers jumped out to an early lead after one at 19-10, but quickly gave it up on some careless and unforced turnovers and found themselves up by 1 half through the second quarter. Refusing to let the Owls get any closer the Panthers closed out the half on an 8-0 run and took the lead into halftime 28-19. The Panthers extended their lead by coming out strong to start the second half and quickly added four more points. The defensive pressure picked up and the Owls only managed 7 second half points. Meanwhile, Tennent's offense seemed to settle into a rhythm and they were able to execute and make shots. "I thought early in the second quarter we started to get sloppy and careless with the ball, and rushed our offense." "We did a much better job in the second half of slowing down and being patient, we had better ball movement and got quality shots." "Defensively, we did a better job of pressuring the ball, but more importantly we limited them to one shot and rebounded well." "This is a busy week for us with 4 games, and 2 of them being tough Conference opponents." "Hopefully we can take some of the confidence we gained tonight and use it as momentum for the rest of the week."
