Council Rock North Comments
North girls won 44-34 over Great Valley. We jumped out to a big lead in the first half - Delaney had 9 in the first quarter, and then Amara Arroyo had 2 3's and a layup in the second quarter to extend our lead. In the second half they cut it to a 10-point game at the end of the 3rd) and Reilly Lackman converted a 3-point play to make 32-25 to start the second quarter. Julia Koval answered with a 3 pointer on the next possession to regain the 10-point lead for North. We were stuck there for a few minutes, before Amara Arroyo came up with a deflection that led to a Delaney McCaffery steal and she got fouled at the other end. Those free throws were essentially to large a deficit for Great Valley to overcome.

"Tonight was just a total team effort. We are very, very proud of our girls for their tremendous effort and for pushing through some of the adversity we faced. Everything for us started at the defensive end of the floor. Ruth O'Keeffe demonstrated that you don't have to score a lot of points to have a profound impact on the game - her defensive effort was absolutely incredible. Amara did a remarkable job of guarding Julia Curran who is an impressive player for them, and then offensively, Amara had the game of her life offensively.

Defensively, I was just impressed with how connected we were: Megan Reichenbach, Julia Koval and Delaney McCaffery were in all the right spots. I know the box score shows the offensive game Delaney had, but she made some really big time plays on the defensive end of the floor that were pivotal to our success. And we had great minutes from our bench - Frannie Boyle and Amelia Furman did everything we asked of them defensively, and Skyler Wright hit some big shots when we needed it.

Like I said, it truly was a team effort. A credit to Great Valley and Coach Frederick - they are a really well-coached team, they made some adjustments and battled right to the end. But we are just proud of the resilience we showed throughout.
