While the season hasn’t gone how we planned in terms of wins and losses, not much better of a script could have been written in Senior Night. Won our last home game of the year, had contributions from up and down the lineup, but our seniors really stepped up tonight. Both played their best game all year. Emma Jones has a season High 8 pts and added 5 steals and 3 rebounds - she was really active and all over the floor. She got In some foul trouble being overly aggressive but that aggression is what’s made her successful this year. Allison McGowan had a monster game. I’ll venture to say it was the best game she’s played on a court at any level. And I don’t just mean from a final numbers standpoint- they were fantastic 22 points 14 rebs 3 steals but her effort in the defensive end of the floor was tremendous. She probably tied up three or four more jump balls, tried to take several charges, vocal- just played a great game. She’s a girl who last year couldn’t get a charge called, really smart player- great help Defense and rotations just couldn’t get one called her way. She embodies everything you want in a captain. She has probably gotten about 7 called since January and attempted over 25 this year she really sacrifices her body for her team and teammates. They both do that and some others are following that blueprint, which will only help us moving forward. We also have two Sr managers we honored tonight-Paige Kutler and Tori Wuensche- they both played for us just fantastic kids. The families of these seniors deserve credit- a lot of time and sacrifice allow the girls this opportunity.

We got contributions from other girls as well. I probably sound like a broken record with Bailey Vetter but her effort and all around play was great. She was more confident offensively tonight and handling the ball. She did her usual defensively- rebounding - loose balls- on the floor- I told my staff we can’t take her for granted in terms of her importance to our team. I just need Bailey to believe in Bailey as much as I do. Claudia Steinmetz really propelled us in the third- 8 points 4 steals in that frame. She’s been great defensively for over a month, I’ve moved her all over she’s been so dependable on that end of the floor. She’s shown growth in her offensive game and goes through some really good spurts. She is another one when it clicks and SHE realizes how good of a two way player she can be and commits to improving some offensive skills her potential is unlimited. Nicole Blaustein is someone I probably don’t talk enough about in terms of meeting expectations. She has handled pressure well all year and is still learning the High School
game in terms of speed and some decision making things but she’s been so solid all year for us. She replaced an all timer in Payton Spadaccino and she has made it a smooth transition. To start as a freshman or play Varsity at a freshman is not easy, especially at Point Guard. She did. Great finding McGowan tonight. Hannah Binder (Sophomore), Karly Wunder and CArley Irvin (both freshman) have all seen more minutes since Jenna Culp’s (sophomore) season ending injury a month ago they have been consistent and productive. If this young group can learn and implement some of the things the seniors displayed tonight and to it consistently everyday, it will turn into consistent production and lead to bigger and better things. Our seniors will have played a big part in that because they have been critic to the development of our younger girls.
