The Panthers put together a complete game and hit clutch free throws in the final minute of the fourth quarter to earn their first conference win over Pennridge on Tuesday. Both teams came out and executed early knotting the score at 13 after one quarter. Things turned, however, in the second as Tennent picked up their defense and only allowed 5 points. They continued to attack offensively and extended their lead to 21-18 at the half. Their momentum carried into the third quarter as they outscored the Rams 11-4 to take a 32-22 lead heading into the fourth. Another quick basket by the Panthers extended the lead to 34-22, before the Rams went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 34-28. The next few minutes went back and forth as both teams answered each others push. Pennridge got it as close as 38-35, before Brianna Broccardi pulled down an offensive rebound after a missed three by Kelly Scipione, and was fouled on the put back. Broccardi knocked down the first of two free throws, but was able to chase down the rebound of her second attempt and lay it in for a layup to put the Panthers back up 41-35 with 1:15 left to play in the game. The Rams came right down and answered with a 3 to pull within 3 with 1:08 remaining. A foul by the Rams on the next possession put Broccardi back on the line for a 1and 1 with 51.8 seconds. Broccardi stepped up and sank both to give Tennent the 43-38 lead. The Rams again answered on the next possession to get it to 43-40 with 42.2 seconds. Another foul by the Rams put Emma Stanfield on the line who hit one of two to give the Panthers a 44-40 lead. On the next possession Pennridge came down and got a good look, but Kyla Gibson was able to secure the rebound before getting fouled. Kyla knocked down both free throws to ice the game and give Tennent the win 46-40. Emma Stanfield lead the Panthers with 15 points, Brianna Broccardi chipped in 13 points, and Kyla Gibson added 12. "I am so happy and proud of our girls, they deserve this win tonight, said Coach Whitney" "They have worked so hard all season and it's great to see them get rewarded." "Kyla and Emma have been our leaders and have been so consistent all season, but I was so proud of how well BB played tonight." "Her offensive rebound off Kelly's missed three and then again when she missed the second free throw and got a layup were huge in keeping the momentum." "We played so well as a team and kept our composure even when Pennridge went on a run." "We made the big plays when we needed to, but what was most impressive was our ability to step up to the line on the road and knock down big free throws in the final minute of the game." "It shows how far we have come as a team this season, and I'm hoping that we can carry this momentum forward for the remaining two games."
