William Tennent Comments

A balanced scoring attack and a solid defensive effort lift Tennent over Pennsbury 31-24 in a non-league match-up. Both teams had trouble finding the basket early on as the Falcons took a 6-5 lead after one. Tennent answered in the second going on a 10-4 run to take a 15-10 lead into halftime. "I thought we did a great job defensively in the first half making it difficult for Pennsbury to get anything easy, said Coach Whitney. We were very active, not allowing many open shots, and our help defense did a great job of stopping penetration." The Panthers carried the momentum into the second half and extended their lead to 27-18 after three. Despite only scoring 4 points in the fourth quarter, Tennent held Pennsbury to a pair of 3's, of which the last one came with 10 seconds remaining in the game. Emma Stanfield, Kelly Scipione, and Haley Crossley had 8 points respectively, and Jess Rutkowsky chipped in 5. "This was a great team win today with so many people contributing. It was probably the best our defense has looked all season, and I know we can still get better. Offensively we still need to make more shots, but I thought we had some great possessions and good ball movement. We are still growing as a team, and learning how to close out games. I think we need to show more poise down the stretch and play a little smarter, but that will come with more experience and being in those positions more."
