Upper Moreland Boys and Girls Cross Country ran at Lower Moreland and both teams lost (boys 17-46 and girls 15-50). The lone female finisher for Upper Moreland was Melody McDonough. Melody ran a great race and dropped almost 3 minutes from her time on the same course last year. On the boys side, Christian Feil finished 4th overall against a strong and deep Lower Moreland squad. Brady (Chicken) Saunders, Nick Ley, John Cox, Ssereniva-Loove Lintaaya-Mmizzo (Lavae), Chase Sutrynowicz and Jack Bogart round out the boys squad.
"We told the kids before the race that all we wanted them to do was go out and race and compete. I was on the course and I saw them after 1 mile and then again with less than a mile togo. Every member of the UM team was giving everything they had. Coach Teri was at the finish and said she was proud of the way they gave everything through the line. Christian has put the time and effort in over the summer and it shows, Nick is one of the toughest kids I've ever coached (mentally and physically it seems like nothing phases him), Chicken is just back from being sick, Lavae just joined the program a couple of weeks ago, Chase caught a cramp early but gutted it out and finished. It was Jack's first race EVER and his progress from day 1 of practice until now is awesome to see.
