Today, our team was playing out of our element, since our game was switched to our grass field, but our girls came ready to play and adapted nicely to the change of fields. We were able to strike first in the first quarter after an amazing lifted pass by sophomore forward, Maeve Link, that connected with sophomore mid-fielder, Brook Dougherty, who was on the right post of the goal. Brooke had her stick in perfect position and was able to tap the ball into the net for a beautiful goal. That goal stood as the lone goal of the game going into half, but at the 3:22 mark of the third quarter, senior forward, Skylar Beal was able to connect on a shot off the goalie’s pads that rebounded out to her stick. We told the girls to have their sticks down and ready for rebounds off the goalie’s pads, and Skylar did just that and was able to put one in to help put us up 2-0 going into the 4th quarter. Finally, in the 4th quarter, sophomore forward, Janice Coonahan showed great hustled by working her way past the goalie and following the ball into the cage for the third and final goal of the game.

Hatboro Horsham had a lot of nice long hits and drives throughout the game and continued to put pressure on our midfielders and defense until the game was over.
Our trio of senior mid-fielders, Olivia Dougherty, Maura Calladonato, and Katie Dougherty all played well and showed a lot of hustle in today’s game. There was a lot of action between the 25 yard lines and these girls were constantly stepping up to intercept hits and make great passes to get the ball down the field. Senior defensive backs, Ava Kirkpatrick and Grace Upham also played a key role in helping preserve the shut-out today. Ava has really stepped up the past few games and has been doing a great job with clearing the ball and preventing scoring opportunities.

Junior goalie, Caitlin Murcar, played well in goal and recorded 1 save for the win.

The girls knew they had to adjust and be patient today, with playing on our grass field. I’m really happy with how they kept their composure and just played our game and used things we had worked on in practice to pull out a nice win.
