CB West beat South today at home in an overtime thriller! It was well played on both sides, with much of the play happening from 25 to 25. Neither team had many offensive chances. West ended with 8 shots total, 4 in the first half 4 in the second half. South ended with a total of 5 shots. CBW had 4 corners in the 1st and 2 corners in the second. CBS had 2 corners in the 1st and 3 corners in the 2nd. Neither team was very successful in that area.

CB South got on the board first with 17:54 left in the first half, when Kaitlyn Barnhart scored off a Casey Reilly breakaway. West responded with 10:10 left in the half after a Liv Fitzgerald pass was tipped in by Caitlin Mulligan. The entire second half was back and forth with no team really able to establish much momentum. During the second half Casey Reichwein and Dani Mason were able to connect for a bunch of transfers, but West was unable to do anything with it offensively.

It went down to overtime with CB South getting first possession. It was stopped in the defensive end and the counter attack was off to the races. Briefly CB South looked like they were going to counter, but Casey Reichwein was able to send a great pass to Liv Fitzgerald who passed it along to Taylor Mason. Mason received and with a small aerial move to get around the defender slammed the ball in the the right corner for the win. (13:15) West has another huge game Wednesday versus cross town rival CB East at home.

Neither team could convert on their corners and both defenses played tough. West scored the equalizer on a scramble in front of the cage, and Taylor Mason scored on a lofted hit in OT to win the game.

Coach Toner: “I am really proud of the improvement our team has made. CB West is a strong, well-coached team and this game could have gone either way. Although it was tough to lose in OT, it was a beautiful goal by a talented CB West player. I was really happy with the way our CB South girls left nothing on the field. They battled the entire game."
