Lower Moreland Comments
Two groups of Lions battled hard today ending in an overtime 2-2 tie. Lower Moreland struck first with a goal by freshman Cara Torgan (assisted by Bri Rocha) with a little over five minutes left in the first quarter. Ava Cozza evened it up in the second with a penalty stroke. Torgan scored again in the third to put Lower Moreland in the lead. With 1:53 left in the game Morgan Riggione tied it up for New Hope. We have been working hard and changed our positioning up a bit which really paid off. The last time we faced New Hope we struggled with their penalty corners, but today our defense shut that down. I could tell by the tone set in the first quarter that Lower Moreland came to play this afternoon. It really just all came together today which makes me so happy for the girls. To see them be successful and feel good about themselves is what this is about for me. I am so proud of them. Unfortunately we were plagued by cards and had 12 minutes of penalties assessed to us. We played the last 3 minutes of regulation and a good chunk of the overtime one player down. Even though everyone was exhausted, they rallied and did not give up. Goalie Meg Halpern had 9 saves on the day. The Lions will play Springfield on Friday.
