This district quarterfinal game lived up to the hype, as both teams came to play and neither was willing to give an inch. The defense for West had one of their best games to date working together to keep the speedy Methacton forwards from finishing some of their early opportunities. The whole defensive unit Abby Gilvary, Olivia Fitzgerald and Casey Reichwein were consistent and solid playing well together. Laura Kubit had an incredible save in the first half to keep Methacton off the board on a little chip shot from the right side that nearly found its way over her, but she was able to get the tip of her glove on it to knock it out of bounds.

The second half started much the same as the first with neither team giving. Each team would go through spurts of dominating offensively, only for the momentum to swing back the other way. Methacton was able to score first with 19:10 left in the game. It took West over 10 minutes to find the equalizer. With 7: 59 left to play, Taylor Mason took a reverse corner shot from the left side of the circle and found the back of the cage. (Ryan Murray assist) West continued the offensive pressure for the remainder of the game but Methacton defense prevailed.

In the first overtime West put 7 shots on cage in the back and forth affair. We were also able to earn 4 corners, but each was turned away by some great plays from Methacton goalie Addie Frey. The second overtime began with Methacton possession, but West quickly got it back and earned a corner. The game winning corner was inserted to the top to Bryn Boylan whose shot ricocheted inside the goal cage hitting just inside the right post, middle board and left corner board. (Ryan Murray assist 13:47)

CB West has qualified for the PIAA tournament and will play Unionville on Tuesday night at 7pm.
