We played well today. It was a team effort that lead to us being able to generate scoring opportunities and solid defense. What I think is special about this group is that they have expectations as a team— they know and feel when they aren’t playing their best and work together to fix it, and they know when they are playing well like today and build on that. Today we started out slower than we would have liked in the first quarter, but we were able to work together in between quarters and at half time to figure out what needed to be done to play like we know how. The forwards, lead by Kasey Rieger, worked hard at getting the ball into the circle and generating offense- our corners also looked strong today. Mia Sermarini did a nice job at center mid carrying and distributing the ball— she moved back from forward to step in for Ava Arbakov who is out due to an injury. Maddy Shtino was a strong presence at defense and helped to generate offense as well, and Morgan Shaltens controlled the backfield.

It was a physically tough game. We took the ball down the right side well in the first half. Junior captains Maria Freeman and Sarah Freeman battled in the middle of our field on both sides of the ball. Senior goalie Peyton Wright kept us in the game the first half and Emerson Gunther had some nice saves on corners coming out of the net. We had moments of miscommunication on defense and it lead to our downfall. We want to work on finishing our season strong moving forward.
