Abington 6
William Tennent 1

After a scoreless first quarter, senior forward, Skylar Beal, and sophomore forward, Maeve Link, exploded on the offensive end, contributing to 4 goals, just minutes apart, in the 2nd quarter. Beal assisted on Link’s first goal at the 11:47 mark and then quickly secured one herself, a minute later, with a beautiful assist by sophomore forward, Brooke Dougherty. Link then scored another at the 9:12 mark, unassisted, and Beal followed suit, at the 6:33 mark, with her second goal of the game. Beal then assisted on another goal at the 4:14 mark to senior forward, Sharon Griffin to put the Ghosts up 5-0 at half. Beal scored one final goal for the day in the 4th quarter, on another beautiful assist by Brooke Dougherty, to secure the win for the Ghosts, 6-1, and notching a hat trick for herself.

Skylar Beal really played a pivotal role in sparking the offense today for Abington. She was constantly applying pressure in the circle on the goalie and connected on some beautiful shots on goal. Maeve Link also had a great game offensively. Her second goal was a beautiful lifted shot into the cage, which really set the tone for our team. Brooke Dougherty was key in getting the ball down the sideline for us today and providing great passes to help set up scoring opportunities.

William Tennent continued to play us hard throughout the game and connected on a beautiful corner in the 4th quarter. They made us work for every possession and shot throughout the game.

Senior mid-fielders, Oliva Dougherty and Maura Calladonato, both had strong games and really were instrumental in the win today. I feel that they were on every ball played between the 25 yard lines and really helped prevent offensive opportunities for William Tennent, while helping create scoring opportunities for us.

Maggie Cardamone and Grace Upham also had strong defensive games for the Ghosts on the back line.

Junior goalie, Caitlin Murcar, played well in goal and recorded 3 saves for the win.

I’m really proud of how the girls played today ! It was hot, yet they hustled and played hard throughout the whole game on both the offensive and defensive ends. We subbed in a lot of players today, due to the heat, and everyone stepped up and did their part to help secure the win.
