The Bears came away with a hard fought 1-0 overtime win. William Tennent played much better than they did in our first meeting. They have improved significantly since our first meeting, and took us by surprise on a Monday game.

The play was back and forth, but every time WT got it in our circle Kelly Bates played exceptionally well to get the ball out.
Our attack and midfield was not connecting , so Bates took it upon herself to keep the ball and dribble up the field 60-70 yards which is pretty unheard of in a HS field hockey game. Her stickwork is incredible, but we have to play her at sweeper as we develop into a more competitive team . Against dominant teams like Wissahickon, the ball is in our defensive circle a lot, so KB ( Kelly Bates) controls our defense. She is our inserter on corners and our main defender on defensive corners. I cannot say enough about how dominant she could be in any position I would play her.
In OT, we drew a penalty corner, and the official allowed 4 back on defense and we had to stop the game and let the officials know the rule that only 3 defenders were allowed back in the reduced player overtime. This frustration had been a problem for the players throughout the game, but they tried to keep their cool.
After a lot of time went off the clock, the corner was set. Bates inserted and Richmond took the shot and Bates rushed the goal and tipped it in. It was very fitting that the most dominant player in the game inserted the corner, then scored the goal! Obviously, she got the game ball! Tierney Hogan and Ash Conrad split time in goal and Hogan had 4 saves in the game.
