Game Wrap Up

The CB East Patriots and Pennridge Rams engaged in an intense conference match-up in Doylestown on Wednesday. Buoyed by a 4 goal outburst from Junior Logan Lazasz, the Rams were able to challenge the home team but ultimately fell to the Patriots, and their balanced scoring, by an 8-6 score.

The Patriots possessed the ball for the majority of the game due to Michael Ott winning 15 of 17 face offs on the day.

The game started as a defensive struggle until Ryan Stout got the Patriots on the board with 10 seconds remaining in the first. An early second period goal by Ott gave East a 2-0 lead, but the Rams countered with a goal at the 10:04 mark in the second period. Greg Scholz scored on a nice fast break feed from Ryan Carroll with 7:35 left to play to put the Patriots up by 2, but the Rams answered again on Lazasz’ first goal of the game with 5:17 left to play in the half to pull within 1. Five minutes later, with only 17 seconds remaining in the half, Brant Billingsley was able to find the back of the net on a nice individual move to put the Pats up 4-2 going into the break.

The Rams came out strong in the second half with Lazasz scoring two goals to tie the game at 4. But East buckled down and were able to get goals by Jacob Manion and Carroll late in the period to take a 6-4 lead going into the fourth. The Rams’ Nick Fanelli scored quickly in the final quarter to pull within one, and despite another goal by Lazasz, the Patriots were able to get a crucial, timely goal by Jake Ventresca, and one more by Stout to secure the Patriots win.

The Patriots will travel to Harry S. Truman high school on Friday afternoon for another conference face off against the Tigers.
