Wrap Up-

It was a much-anticipated rematch as CB East took the field against LaSalle on Saturday afternoon. After losing to the Patriots in the 2017 PIAA State quarterfinals, the Explorers were looking to even the score this year. The teams battled back and forth all day in an even matchup that ended in a 5-5 stalemate through four quarters of play. Michael Ott’s 9th faceoff win of the day gave the Patriots possession in OT. It’s all they would need as Ryan Stout found the back of the net on a hard dodge to the cage to give East an exciting 6-5 victory.

The game was a show of true talent for both teams. There were minimal penalties and stoppages of play which clearly demonstrated the skill of the matchup.

East dominated the first period, with Stout kicking off the scoring with a wrap around goal at the 7:16 mark. A short seven seconds later, Ott scored the first of his three goals on the day to give the Patriots a 2-0 lead. East maintained possession for most of the first period, and with time winding down, Ott sent a rocket into the back of the net with only 9 seconds left to give East a commanding 3-0 lead.

But LaSalle battled back and scored 3 goals in the second to make it 3-3 at the half. A goal by LaSalle with 7:14 remaining in the 3rd gave them their first lead of the game. But it didn’t last long, as Ott scored a few minutes later to complete the hat trick for a 4-4 tie at the end of three.

LaSalle took a 5-4 lead early in the fourth, but East answered again with a top-corner rip by Ryan Bulotta with 9:11 left to play in regulation. Both defenses took control at that point and didn’t allow another goal until Stout’s game-winner in overtime.

Ott played an outstanding all around game by winning 9 of 14 faceoffs, scoring 3 goals and coming up with 9 groundballs. The East defense was also solid all day long, led by long poles Drew Bethke, Jake Kueny, John Galow, and Ty Tracey. Collin Stein, Evan Bulotta, and Jake Ventresca were also critical in the win due to their outstanding defense and ability to clear. Liam Rosenthal had an outstanding effort in Goal by making 7 saves on the day.

The Patriots will take the field again on Monday. May 7th and face a 12 win Central Bucks West team at 3:30 - Patriots Stadium.
