Pennsbury Comments

Natalie Smith and Lily Nolan were hot on a frozen night, and the two combined to bring Pennsbury to within one of its win total from all of last season.

Smith made 16 saves and Nolan scored seven goals to lead Pennsbury to a 12-7 win over Hatboro-Horsham Monday night. The victory improved the Falcons to 3-0 this year after a 4-13 season a year ago, and all three wins have come against teams who beat Pennsbury a year ago.

Hatboro-Horsham scored first and kept Pennsbury off the board until Emelie Curtis scored on a free position shot 13:24 into the game. Nolan then scored her first less than a minute later, and the Hatters would never tie the score again.

It was 4-2 Pennsbury at the break, with three by Nolan, and she scored the first two Pennsbury goals of the second half to keep the Hatters away.

The closest H-H would come would be one after two goals eight seconds apart, making it an 8-7 game with 6:06 to play. It stayed that way until Brooke Weaver scored with 2:22 to go, and Pennsbury then pulled away with three more after that.

Curtis finished with two goals and two assists, her total in each of the first three games. Sarah Mac Davis scored twice for Pennsbury as well.

Hatboro-Horsham outshot Pennsbury 29-24, but sophomore goalie Smith came up big time and again.

Nolan ran her career total to 141 goals.
