This game was a battle to the last second. Both teams played hard and fought for every ball. No matter the score both UM and Hatboro played with heart. UM started off strong with a 3-0 lead in the beginning of the game. Hatboro battled back with 4 unanswered goals to take the lead 4-3. By the end of the half UM came back with two goals to end the first half 5-4. Hatboro came out strong in the second half to where we found ourselves losing 8-5. We were struggling to connect on attack and every mistake we made Hatboro capitalized on it. In the last 6 minutes of the game we were down by 3 goals. We never gave up, we were struggling with some of the basics at times, but eventually we were back on track with Reagan Cummins scoring 2 goals
Within a minute to take the score to 10-10. UM was able to win the next draw with one and half minutes left in the game. We were down on attack, Reagan Cummins had a great shot which put us up by one and left 18 seconds in the game. Hatboro won the next draw and drove to goal. They were able to get a 8m shot and Emma Hurley with the huge save got a piece of the ball which sent the ball out of bounds and time ran out.
I knew this was going to be a battle coming into this game, returners from last year frequently reminded all players of our loss to Hatboro last year in overtime. They were motivated to play the full game and not go to overtime! Reagan Cummins had a phenomenal game and really brought us back in the game in the last 5 minutes. Annalise Messina aside from 3 goals and 2 assists had some very key draw controls for us when we needed them the most! Heidi Wittick was solid on the draws and in the midfield. Our defense communicated really well today and worked hard to stay together as a unit. Our players on the sideline were our biggest supporters and kept the team going especially at the end of the game. It was a whole team effort today!
